AAA SHARES SAFE RIDE OPTIONS FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE

Denver, December 30 – – As Coloradans prepare to celebrate the final night of 2014, AAA strongly encourages arranging a safe ride home before partaking in any New Year’s festivities. The following suggestions can help protect you and your family:

  • Drive only while drug and alcohol-free
  • Never ride in a car with someone who is under the influence
  • Select a designated driver
  • Plan to take a cab
  • Stay with a friend

AAA Colorado strives to provide its members with roadside assistance as quickly as possible. If you do not need roadside assistance but are looking for a safe ride home, please visit AAA.com/SafeRide for listing of cab companies and other safe ride options in your area.

AAA works year round to educate motorists about driving practices that will help keep them safe and reduce traffic-related crashes and the injuries that can result. In addition to the suggestions above, AAA recommends being a responsible host. Encourage sensible drinking by serving non-alcoholic drinks, serving food or light hors d’oeuvres and never give alcohol to anyone under 21.

Immediately report impaired drivers to area law enforcement. Be ready to provide the license plate number, description of the vehicle and the direction in which the car was traveling. Keep your vehicle at a safe distance, and do not try to intervene.

AAA Colorado has more than 600,000 members and is an advocate for safety and security for all travelers. As North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides over 54 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive related services, as well as member exclusive savings.
